Michael Jackson: August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009

Rocking out,

My fellow rockers, today is without a doubt a day that will stand in the mind of rockers forever, We lost one of our own today, as the greatest performer of all time has passed on. Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop", was more than just an artist. He was a global icon whose initials arguably make him the most famous MJ of all time. He was a smash sensation from the start, blessing the world with hits such as "ABC" and "I Want You Back" with his siblings in the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 was synonymous with Motown, and even had their own cartoon show. With Michael as the frontman, things eventually started to speed up. Michael eventually went on to pursue his solo career, making countless number one hits and multi-platinum and even multi-diamond records along the way. His most popular album, "Thriller", is the best-selling album of all time, rumored to have sold over 109 million copies world-wide.

All the controversy and legal issues aside, we must remember Michael in a positive light. He did more to music than anyone else before or after him, and his legacy must go on. We must dance the "Thriller" with Philippino inmates. We must be "Bad". We must "Beat It" day in and day out. But most importantly, we must not forget the significance Michael Jackson made to rocking out. He certainly knew how to rock out, and he never faltered in that respect.

I leave you all with a quote from Jacko himself. “And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.”- Michael Jackson

Rest in Peace, Michael. I know you're doing the moonwalk up in heaven with the G-man himself.

Respectfully,
BA
